Welcome to Kobe College!
I teach①migration, ② gender, and ③ leadership issues.
Q : Why do we need to know about migration issues?
A:Without the proper understanding of the impact of the movement of people -- we will repeat mistakes that take us to never-ending cycles of war, conflict, discrimination, and poverty. Understanding migration is also helpful in analyzing globalization issues including climate change, health (spread of infectious diseases, etc), and business expansion.
Q: Why do we need to know about gender issues?
A:Our past, present and future problems have roots in gender inequality, religion, and tradition.
Q:Why do we need to know about leadership?
A:Youth, women, and minorities should be trained to assume leadership positions to help accelerate the needed changes in society that is rapidly expanding internet-based activities and borderless organizations.
Q:What are my activities with students?
A:I invite a lot of speakers who have very international and wide experiences to give special lectures. In addition, I take students to fieldwork (local and international), attend conferences (local and international), and workshops (local and international). For example, we followed the migratory routes of the Chinese and Japanese to Hawaii and mainland USA, the Irish from Dublin to New York and Boston, Filipinos to the Middle East, Australia, and others. We learn about the Jewish Diaspora, the Holocaust and refugee issues in Europe by visiting Poland and Lithuania.
