神戸女学院大学女子青年会（KOBE COLLEGE YMCA）が、1951年5月に発刊した季刊誌は「デフォレスト先生記念特集号」でした。そに掲載された先生の詩を、岡田山キャンパス移転80周年を覚えてここにご紹介いたします。

THE SPIRIT OF KOBE COLLEGE

Kobe College may boast of her campus,
  She may boast of a history long,
Of Friendly devotion on both sides the ocean,-
  And all of it, all of it, worthy of song.

O what a wonderful story!
  O what a heritage grand!
Here's to our dear Kobe College-
  Long be her days in the land!

But her best is the spirit of service,
  Loving service to God and to man.
We claim as our own the fair Christ-light that shone
  When our Founders, our Founders, first came to Japan.

O what a wonderful spirit!
  O what a heritage fine!
May we all cherish it dearly-
  Evermore bright may it shine!
